Hello, I’m Chandra, the heart and soul behind Zen Odyssey. 

My health challenges began at age 2 with severe eczema and asthma. Despite numerous medications throughout my childhood, my symptoms persisted. As a teenager, I refused to accept a life reliant on medication and embarked on a quest for vibrant health free of medications. 

 

After checking the box of “degree” as a graphic designer, my real education came from immersive experiences from 2004 to 2009 by studying, living, and working between Esalen Institute (think home of the human potential movement) in Big Sur, Ca and summers in Body Mind Restoration Retreats (think raw food retreat run by a Zen Monk) in Ithaca, NY; and then in 2012 I studied Ayurveda at the Dhyana Center in Sebastopol.

Later, I would learn to articulate: “drop my intellectual learning into my cellular being” by going to Brazil and Costa Rica for Ayahuasca and Iboga retreats. 

 

I am an early adopter of alternative medicine and I’ve used this education to overcome numerous health challenges, including physical symptoms, emotional eating issues, and emotional suffering. By learning how eat real food, embrace uncomfortable feelings, and practicing deep-listening to my body; I live a symptom-free, medication-free life with grounded clear energy and a stable emotional state.

 

What does being a burner, traveler, climber, entrepreneur, and mother mean for me? It means embracing the hard parts of life consciously and reaping the satisfaction that accompanies it. 

 

Regularly, I wake up stoked for life (and my caffeinated warm beverage) with actual tools to deal with and embrace the 50% of life that is hard: keeping me in a healthy relationship with my anxiety and depression.
