Fasting Can Be Fun And Easy
When most people think about fasting they think of it as a negative and hard experience. And it can be both of these. But it does not have to be. Fasting has become something that I genuinely love doing when I want to heal or when I want my brain to be in super-efficient mode. This might be mind-blowing to you, but I am here to tell you that fasting can be fun and easy.
I have been to all the restrictive, depriving, detoxify, hard places with food changes. I have done crazy cleanses and diets. I have had flu-like symptoms from making food changes. I have worked at a detox center where that was the norm.
But there is another way. A way that makes it possible for fasting to be fun and easy.
Yup, you heard me right.
Part of fasting and the ease into fasting has to do with how your body is set up currently. Namely: are you a sugar burner or a fat burner?
The norm is to be a sugar burner. We, modern-day eaters, are eating all the time and we are mostly eating glucose.
This is why the average person gets hungry when they miss a meal, it is because they are not fat adapted, they are not fat burners.
When or if you become a fat burner, you become metabolically flexible. Which means that your body is able to easily go to your fat stores (which we all have plenty of) to get glucose and fuel.
I know that most people think of fasting as restrictive and depriving, but the way that I experience fasting is actually the opposite. I feel free and independent of ‘needing’ food all the time. Missing a meal is no biggie. And sometimes missing a meal is useful.
One of my favorite things to do while fasting is exercising, or better yet rock climbing. I love how engaged and active I feel when my body is using my fat as fuel and I am not dependent on eating all day.
Have you ever thought of fasting?
If you are thinking about trying it… I highly recommend getting off sugar and flour first so that your fasting can be fun and easy.
