From Scarcity to Clarity — Angela's Coaching Story

Published

"I came in wanting to address my relationship with time. I feel like I'm exiting the program with — I don't know — quantum wings."

My name is Angela. I'm a mama of two young girls — one just turned three and my eldest is six, almost seven. My husband and I and our daughters and our dog Ruby recently moved to Costa Rica. I'm in a moment of growth and transformation — coming off over 15 years in the corporate environment and exploring what's next.

I told Chandra I was at a crossroads — at the intersection of Should Circle, where I'd been navigating, and Trust Boulevard, the expansive long road to explore. I've turned onto Trust Boulevard.

What I Came In For

We started working together for a three-month period. The original focus was my relationship to time — scarcity, rushing — and the crossroads I was at, what's next. What ended up coming out of it was so much bigger: essential skills for the rest of my life. Time is just one component of a much bigger picture.

The Hesitation

At the beginning, I was in my analytical mind trying to justify the investment — do this mental calculus of the potential return. I was already reading the books, listening to the podcasts, I could just bring it together myself. But my heart and my gut sense opened the door. It wasn't something I could analyze. I just had a sense.

For anyone in a similar boat: we don't always know what we don't know. Where we ended up I couldn't have foreseen — so my return-on-investment calculation would never have been accurate, because you don't know where something like this can take you.

The Expanded Self vs. the Smaller Self

I've struggled with making decisions since I was a child. A lot of it was rooted in not having a clear sense of myself — not quite knowing how to listen inward. It was mostly about other people: what should I do, what's good, what's right, what's wrong.

One specific tool that's been really powerful: the expanded, embodied self versus the smaller self. Instead of making decisions out of a place of contraction — where the result would be contraction — I've learned to sit and feel it in my body. Am I feeling expanded? Am I feeling smaller? Combined with awareness of my prefrontal cortex versus my primal brain, it's a combination of understanding what's happening in my brain and having tools to feel it in my body and make decisions from that expanded, embodied place.

This is huge for me. It's a practice — something I'm practicing every day.

Patterns, Presence, and My Daughters

Working together, we got to the root of so many behaviors and patterns in my life that I knew weren't aligned or in service of my highest self, yet they still perpetuated. Now I have this clarity of awareness and these tools to navigate the rest of my life. And again, it's not just in my mind — it's in my body.

This ripples into showing up with more presence in my daily life, in those key moments with my partner and my daughters, catching myself in moments of emotion before I react — and choosing to respond differently.

"I walk away with powerful tools for myself and what I can share with my daughters and others in my life."

The Self-Coaching Piece

The coaching tool model is really at the crux of these benefits. Your coaching is over a finite time frame — but what's so powerful is you walk away with the model itself. You have the reins. You have the keys. You continue to embody and work through new things as they arise.

The video content was gold — totally relatable, actionable, life-changing stuff. A ton of wisdom jam-packed into the series. I'd watch the videos before our sessions so the material was fresh; lightbulbs would always go off.

I would absolutely recommend Chandra. You're a master of your craft. I could think of several people — friends, my mother — who could benefit from working with you.
