Functional Embodiment

A one-to-one somatic container for the person whose work is in the body itself — the nervous system, the parenting, the relationships, the integration. The length flexes around the life you are actually inside of. The work is body-first the whole way through.

The Premise

Your Body Is Already Doing the Work

You already know the patterns. You can feel the bracing before the conversation. You notice the tightening when your kid escalates. You recognise the going-quiet when your partner gets loud. You see the familiar story write itself in the dynamic, again, and you can feel that something underneath your circumstances is the actual source.

Functional Embodiment is the practice of meeting that source where it lives — in your nervous system. Most patterning runs body-first and thought-second. By the time the thought arrives, the body has already taken the room. Working with the body first changes what is possible in every layer above it: how you parent, how you relate, how you integrate what you have already been through.

The methodology underneath this program is the same one I teach in my book and use with every coaching client — this program is the one-to-one container where you actually embody it.

Two Paths. One Destination.

Which Door You Enter Through

I offer two longer-form programs, and the work meets in the same place. Whether you enter through food or through embodiment, the destination is the same: regulate your nervous system, heal the patterns running underneath, and embody the values you want the next generation to inherit.

Food and Mood is the door you enter when food and the body are the loudest signal — when the relationship with food is the most visible place the patterns are showing up.

Functional Embodiment is the door you enter when the body itself, parenting, relationships, or integration is where the patterns surface — when food is not the loudest signal but the nervous system clearly is.

Both rest on the same methodology. Both work with the body first. If you are not sure which door is yours, a free 15-minute intro is the place to sort it out together.

The Entry Points

What Brings People to Functional Embodiment

Nervous system regulation as the central work. You can feel that your baseline is set too high. You move through the day in partial activation. You want a practice that lives in your body, not another tool to remember to deploy. We build that practice slowly, one body cue at a time.

Parenting and the generational layer underneath it. You already know parenting is the deepest growth work of your life. You can see the patterns from how you were parented leaking forward. You want to interrupt them at your generation before they become inheritance. The somatic layer is what makes that interruption hold. The cognitive layer alone does not. (For coaching focused entirely on the parenting work itself, see parenting coaching.)

Relationships and partnership patterns. You see the same dynamic write itself with different people, and you are tired of the story repeating. We work with the body-level pattern underneath the relational pattern — the bracing, the abandoning, the over-functioning, the going-quiet — until your nervous system can stay present in a relationship without leaving itself behind.

Integration after intentional plant-medicine work. You have done the ceremony or the experience. The insight was real. The question is how it lives in your body now, in the ordinary days afterward. Functional Embodiment is the body-first integration container — slow, somatic, ordinary. I do not facilitate the medicine. I hold the integration that follows.

The Shape

What Two to Twelve Months Looks Like

Two months is the floor. It is the time it takes to interrupt a body pattern enough that the new default begins to feel like yours. Most clients who arrive for one specific arc — an integration window, a parenting season, a relationship transition — work with me at that length.

Twelve months is the ceiling for the structured container. It is the time it takes to hold a full season of life — a whole school year with your kid, a partnership transition, a long integration arc — with weekly one-to-one support and the room for the deeper patterns to surface in their own time.

We decide together at the start what length is right, and we adjust as the work tells us. There is no required number of sessions, no contract that locks you into a schedule that no longer fits. The container is built to flex around your nervous system and your life.

The first big step is awareness. From there, the work moves at the speed your body can metabolise — never faster.

The Container

What You Get Inside the Program

One-to-one weekly coaching sessions with me. Video, from the comfort of your own home. The sessions are tailored to the specific moments you are inside of in your week — the body cue you noticed, the dynamic that surfaced, the integration insight that wants attention.

Customised somatic practice. Every client leaves with their own practice set, drawn from breathwork, grounding, body-based noticing, and small movement-based regulation tools. Nothing one-size-fits-all. Practices that fit your body and the life it is in.

Between-session support. The moments that move this work do not always happen in the session. You have a way to reach me between sessions when something real surfaces and you want a small piece of guidance to meet it.

The generational layer, the whole way through. Every pattern we work with traces somewhere — to how you were parented, to a lineage line you can feel running underneath the present-day pattern. We name that layer out loud. We work with it. We interrupt it at your generation.

What people in this work have said

These three entered Functional Embodiment through different doors — one for parenting, one for the body itself, one for general somatic work. The work meets in the same place.

Who It's For

Who This Program Is For

This program is for you if:

  • You can feel that the patterns are in your body, not in your circumstances.
  • You have done some inner work — therapy, somatic practice, plant medicine, embodiment — and you want a one-to-one container to take it deeper.
  • You are a parent who can feel the generational layer underneath your reactivity, and you want to interrupt it at your generation.
  • You are integrating a meaningful experience — a ceremony, a retreat, a hard season — and you want a body-first container to hold that integration.
  • You are willing to slow down, feel what is happening underneath your day, and look at the inherited beliefs running the dynamics.

This program is probably not for you if:

  • You want a fast fix. The work goes slow because the body goes slow.
  • You are looking for protocols, scripts, or techniques to deploy without doing the body-level work underneath.
  • You are in acute crisis or active diagnosis that calls for a clinical first-stop. We can talk about whether this fits later. A free intro is the place to sort it out.
  • You do not yet see your own nervous system as part of the dynamic. That is a fine place to be — the right next step is reading and reflection, not coaching yet.

Where to Begin

Start with a session

The program is one-to-one and tailored. Investment is shared on your booking confirmation, and a session credit applies if you decide together that the structured container is the right next step.

90 minutes

90-minute deep session

For the person who wants to go deeper than one moment — body, inherited belief, the relational layer, the integration layer.

Book a 90-min session

Not ready for a full session? Or book a free 15-minute intro to ask questions about the program — a short, no-pressure conversation to see if this work is the right fit.

Sessions are 1:1, video-based, from the comfort of your own home. The program is built around the same one-to-one work, extended across two to twelve months with customised somatic practice and between-session support.

Common Questions

Questions, answered

What is the Functional Embodiment program?

It is a one-to-one somatic coaching container, two to twelve months long, customized to the specific work you are bringing. Most clients come in for one of four entry points: nervous system regulation as the central work, parenting and the generational layer underneath it, relationship and partnership patterns, or integration after intentional plant-medicine work. The container holds whatever combination is yours.

How is this different from the Food and Mood program?

Both programs rest on the same Mood Before Food methodology. Food and Mood is the door you enter when food and the body are the loudest signal — when the relationship with food is the most visible place the patterns are showing up. Functional Embodiment is the door you enter when the body, parenting, relationships, or integration is where the patterns surface — when food is not the loudest signal but the nervous system clearly is. The destination is the same.

Why is the length variable instead of fixed?

Because the work is not formulaic. Two months is the floor — it is the time it takes to interrupt a pattern enough that your body can find the new default. Twelve months is the ceiling for the structured container — long enough to hold a full season of family life, a relationship transition, or an integration arc. Most clients land somewhere in the middle. We decide together at the start what the right length is, and we adjust as the work tells us.

Is plant-medicine integration coaching the same as this program?

Plant-medicine integration is one of the entry points into Functional Embodiment, not a separate program. For clients doing intentional psychedelic work, the integration container is the same somatic-first nervous-system work — held with whatever ceremony or experience you are integrating from. I do not facilitate the medicine itself. I hold the body-first integration work that comes after.

Do you take insurance?

No. This is private-pay coaching. Some clients with PPO plans pursue partial reimbursement for coaching-adjacent services, but I do not bill insurance and reimbursement is never guaranteed. The reason I work this way is that it gives both of us full ownership of the work — no diagnostic codes, no session caps, no third party in the room.

How do I know if I am ready?

If you can feel that the work is in your body and not in your circumstances, you are ready. You do not need to have your patterns figured out. You need to be willing to slow down, feel what is happening underneath the day-to-day, and bring it into the room with one person who can help you metabolise what surfaces.

The path forward

Functional Embodiment is one of two longer-form programs I run. The other is Food and Mood. Both rest on the same Mood Before Food methodology — the premise that the body and the nervous system are upstream of every pattern worth shifting. You can step into the work as a single session, as a structured program, or by reading my chapter in Handbook for Human Potential.
